Kenyon SP3 Airfoil Spreader Section


SP3 Airfoil Spreader Section & Hardware Kenyon SP3 Spreader Section features a special Internal mounting channel designed to fit a 2 1/4" wide x 3/16" thick SS Plate. SP3 Spreaders normally fit on a series of Spreader Bases with this size plate welded to them, and over Spreader Bars this size. This arrangement produces a strong, serviceable attachment with a minimum of windage.

*SP3 Tapered Spreader Ass'y w/ Integral Link Plate: K-SP3TAL-__:* Tapered SP3 Spreader uses an integral welded Link Plate, K-11257-1, for discontinuous rigging applications. Weld-in Link Plate has SS Bushings with (1) 1/2" hole (lower), and (2) 3/8" holes (upper), other pin sizes are available. To order: specify maximum length, pin diameters (if different), spreader base configuration, and sweep back angle (if any). *SP3 Spreader Tip: K-10263:* Cast aluminum spreader tip features slot for up to 1/4" shroud. Shroud is secured with seizing wire through holes on either side of shroud seat. Spreader tip measures 2 3/4" x 1", and extends shroud seat 1/2" beyond spreader tube. With Black Epoxy finish.
*SP3 Spreader Tip - Raw: K-10263R:* Cast aluminum spreader tip as *K-10263* (above), but with uncoated Aluminum finish for use in welded applications.
*SP3 Urethane Spreader Tip: K-10778X:* Molded urethane spreader tip features slot for up to 1/4" shroud. Tip is spread to pass around shroud and secured in spreader with (2) SS screws. Spreader tip measures 2 3/4" x 1", and captivates shroud against the spreader tube. As used on J/30. This part is no longer available and is shown here for identification only, having been replaced by the more substantial K-10263 (above).
*SP3 Multiple Shroud Spreader Tip: K-10263-3:* New-style Cast aluminum spreader tip features 3 slots for use on multiple spreader rigs and for use with Rod Spreader Bends. Shrouds are secured with seizing wire through holes on either side of shroud seats. Forward slot will accommodate up to -17 Spreader Bend; Center slot up to -4 Spreader Bend and 5/16" wire; Aft slot up to 1/4" wire. Spreader tip measures 2 3/4" x 1", and extends shroud seat 1/4" beyond spreader tube. With Black Epoxy finish.

*SP3 Discontinuous Spreader Tip: K-11619:* Cast aluminum spreader tip features 5/16" horizontal pin (included) for attaching rigging ends. Spreader tip measures 2 3/4" x 1", and extends 1 7/8" beyond spreader tube. Pin center is 1 3/8" beyond spreader tube. With Black Epoxy finish. As used on Hunter 28.5.

*SP3 Discontinuous Spreader Tip Link Plate: K-11257-1:* Aluminum weld-in Link Plate used with SP3 Spreaders (usually tapered) in discontinuous rigging applications. Link Plate has SS Bushings with (1) 1/2" hole (lower), and (2) 3/8" holes (upper), other pin sizes are available. Plate is 3/8" thick x 3 3/4" high x (maximum) 2 1/4" wide. To order: Specify pin diameters. *As used on Tartan 28,** and T-3000.

*SP3 Tapered Spreader Tip - Raw: K-10262R:* Cast aluminum spreader Tip is welded in SP3 spreader tapered to 1 7/8" (or untapered SP2.2) and features slot for up to 7/32" shroud. Slot is easily enlarged for larger shrouds. Shroud is secured with seizing wire through holes on either side of shroud seat. Tip has uncoated Aluminum finish for use in welded applications, measures 1 7/8" x 3/4", and extends shroud seat 3/8" beyond spreader tube.
*SP3 Tapered Spreader Tip: K-11202:* Cast aluminum Spreader Tip for SP3 and SP4 spreaders tapered to 2" x 7/8" features slot for up to 5/16" shroud. Shroud is secured with seizing wire through holes on either side of shroud seat. Tip has uncoated Aluminum finish for use in welded applications, and extends shroud seat 1/2" beyond spreader tube.

Shrouds are secured with seizing wire through holes on either side of shroud seats. Forward slot will accommodate up to 7/32" wire, aft slot up to 5/32" wire. Spreader Tip measures 1 7/8" x 3/4", and extends shroud seat 3/8" beyond spreader tube. as K-10262-2, but with uncoated Aluminum finish for use in welded applications.

Cast aluminum Spreader Tip is used on a variety of spreaders tapered to 1 3/4". Unit features narrow slot (9/16" x 1 1/8" deep to Pin center) with horizontal pin for attaching link tangs. Spreader Tip measures 1 5/8" wide x 1 1/8" high, and extends 2" beyond spreader tube. Pin center is 1 3/8" beyond spreader tube, 3/8" Pin, K-CP6-54, is included. Tip has uncoated Aluminum finish for use in welded applications. Also available with other Pin sizes, Specify diameter. As used on a variety of C&C Yachts, and others, and used with other Spreader Sections.
*Tapered Discontinuous Spreader Tip w/ 7/16" Pin: K-11446L-7A:* Cast aluminum Spreader Tip is used on a variety of spreaders tapered to 2". Unit features wide slot (1 1/8" x 1 1/8" deep to Pin center) with horizontal pin for attaching Rod fork and link tangs. Spreader Tip is 2" wide x 1 3/8" high and extends 2 1/4" beyond spreader tube. Pin center is 1 1/2" beyond spreader tube, 7/16" Pin, K-CP7-64, is included. Tip has uncoated Aluminum finish for use in welded applications. Also available with other Pin sizes, Specify diameter. As used on a variety of C&C Yachts, and others, and used with other Spreader Sections.

*SP3 Inboard Spreader End - 0 degree aft: K-11480-3:* Inboard Spreader End is used for masts with welded aluminum spreader bases on rigs with in-line spreaders. Aluminum spreader end is welded in a slot cut in SP3 Spreader. Tapered Aluminum plate is 3/8" thick x (maximum) 4 3/4" wide x 5 1/2" long, and features integral etch lines to line up with centerline and end of SP3 Spreader. Mounts to mast with (2) 3/8" holes on 3 1/4" centers, holes are 3/4" from end of plate. Plate has uncoated Aluminum finish. As used on some Soverel 33's.
*SP3 Inboard Spreader End - 30° aft: K-11660:* Inboard Spreader End is used with special welded spreaders bases for rigs with spreaders angled 30° degrees aft. Aluminum spreader end is welded in a slot cut in SP3 Spreader. Contoured Aluminum plate is 3/8" thick x 3 5/16" wide x (maximum) 6 1/4" long, and mounts to mast with (2) 3/8" holes on 2 5/16" centers. Plate has uncoated Aluminum finish. As used on Hunter 28.


SP3 Spreader Bases SP3 Spreaders are normally used with a variety of welded SS Spreader Bases which are formed to fit specific Mast Sections. On some masts they are used with special welded Inboard Spreader Ends (listed above) that fit between (2) aluminum Spreader Base Plates welded to the mast. Spreader Bases and Spreader Base Plates used with SP3 Spreaders are specific to individual Mast Sections and are listed under the Mast Sections that they attach to, See Kenyon Mast Sections.

SP3 Spreader Bars SP3 Spreaders frequently use a thru-mast Spreader Bar, especially in High Performance applications. Spreader Bars are machined to snugly fit the interior of the Spreader, and require that the inboard end of the Spreader be cut or filed to approximate the curve of the mast section. Spreader Bar is installed through a slot in the mast, the Spreaders fit over the Bar and are pinned straight through the Bar, holding the Bar and Spreaders in place. Spreader Bars are available in a variety of standard sweep-back angles, other angles are available on a special order basis. *SP3 Spreader Bars are listed below, and* under the Mast Sections they are commonly used with (Kenyon 3550, 3756, 3656, 4060 & 4066), and are also suitable for use with other similar-sized Mast Sections.**
*Spreader Bar for SP3 Spreader - 0 degree aft: K-11295:* Stainless Steel Bar assembly is used with Kenyon SP3 Spreaders for rigs with in-line spreaders. Installed through a 3/16" x 2 1/4" slot in the mast, the bar is held in place with roll pins (included) on each side. Holes (1/4") for spreader attachment are pre-drilled, holes for roll pins (1/8") are pre-drilled for 4" wide Mast Sections, for other Mast Sections new roll pin holes can be drilled, or unit can be used without. Unit is 10" long x 2 1/4" wide, and has a 5-degree vertical angle. Used with 4060, 4066, and 4270 Mast Sections.
*Spreader Bar for SP3 Spreader - 3° aft: K-11295-3:* Stainless Steel Bar assembly is used with Kenyon SP3 Spreaders for rigs with spreaders at 3° aft. Installed through a 3/16" x 2 1/4" slot in the mast, the bar is held in place with roll pins (included) on each side. Holes (1/4") for spreader attachment are pre-drilled, holes for roll pins (1/8") are pre-drilled for 4" wide Mast Sections, for other Mast Sections new roll pin holes can be drilled, or unit can be used without. Unit is 10" long x 2 1/4" wide, and has a 5-degree vertical angle. Used with 4060, 4066, and 4270 Mast Sections. Special as used on Ericson 28 Mk. 2 and others.
*Spreader Bar for SP3 Spreader - 0 degree aft: K-11508:* Stainless Steel Bar assembly is used with Kenyon SP3 Spreaders for rigs with in-line spreaders. Installed through a 3/16" x 2 1/4" slot in the mast, the bar is held in place with roll pins (included) on each side. Holes (1/4") for spreader attachment and roll pins (1/8") are pre-drilled. Unit is 10" long x 2 1/4" wide, and has a 5-degree vertical angle. Used with 3656, 3756, 4060, and similar Mast Sections.
