|
Originally designed by Paul Elvstrom for the Finn class, these Stainless Steel 'automatic'
Bailers have been the industry standard for over 50 years. Currently manufactured by
Andersen, and commonly used on a large variety of dingys and small keelboats,
Externally-mounted and
Internally-mounted SS Bailers (and parts for them)
are available in a variety of sizes, below. |

| Externally mounted Bailers | ||
|
Externally mounted Bailers are bolted in place from the outside of the Hull,
and caulked to prevent leaks between them and the Hull.
These units have only one (1) gasket - that goes between the body
and the trap door. Gaskets are easily replaceable, simply pry the
bail off of the trap door, the trap door will then come out from the bottom.

'Mini' SS Bailer: Elv 10-M:
Elvstrom 'Mini' Stainless Steel Bailer is installed from the underside of the boat. Bailer is 3 5/8" long x 2 3/16" wide (92 x 57mm), and fastens to hull with (4) 3mm x 20mm FH screws and nuts (included), on 62mm x 46mm hole centers. Requires 2 7/8" x 1 1/2" (73mm x 38mm) cut-out through hull.

Gasket only for 'Mini' Bailer: Elv 10-MG:
Replacement Gasket for Elvstrom 'Mini' SS Bailer is cut from 5mm thick adhesive-backed rubber foam. To install, simply pry the bail off of the trap door, the trap door will then come out the bottom of the boat.

'New Large' SS Bailer: Elv 11-NL:
Elvstrom 'New Large' Stainless Steel Bailer is installed from the underside of the boat. Bailer is 5 5/8" long x 3 1/8" wide (143 x 80mm), and fastens to hull with six (6) 5mm x 16mm FH screws and nuts (included), on (maximum) 4 13/16" x 2 1/2" (122mm x 63mm) hole centers. Requires 4 1/8" x 1 5/8" (104mm x 42mm) cut-out through hull.

Gasket only for 'New Large' Bailer: Elv 11-NLG:
Replacement Gasket for Elvstrom 'New Large' SS Bailer is cut from 5mm thick adhesive-backed rubber foam. To install, simply pry the bail off of the trap door, the trap door will then come out the bottom of the boat.

| Internally mounted Bailers | ||
|
Internally mounted 'Super Series' Bailers are bolted in place from the inside of the
Hull, and use an external gasket to prevent leaks between them and the Hull, as well as an internal
gasket - that goes between the body and the trap door. Replacing an external gasket requires
removing the unit from the inside of the boat, replacing an internal gasket requires taking
the unit apart by drilling out the assembly rivets.

'Super Mini' SS Bailer: Elv 20-SMin:
Elvstrom 'Super Mini' Stainless Steel Bailer is installed from the inside the boat. Bailer is 4 3/16" long x 2 7/16" wide (106 x 61mm), and fastens to hull with (4) 5mm x 16mm FH screws and nuts (included), on 3 3/4" x 2" (95mm x 51mm) hole centers. Requires 3 3/8" x 1 9/16" (85mm x 40mm) cut-out through hull. All fasteners and Gaskets are included.

Elvstrom 'Super Mini Special' Stainless Steel Bailer is installed from the inside the boat. Designed for racing dinghies where the bailer is operated from a hiking position, this bailer is mounted without spring lever. Bailer is 4 3/16" long x 2 7/16" wide (106 x 61mm), and fastens to hull with (4) 5mm x 16mm FH screws and nuts (included), on 3 3/4" x 2" (95mm x 51mm) hole centers. Requires 3 3/8" x 1 9/16" (85mm x 40mm) cut-out through hull. All fasteners and Gaskets are included.
