Jiffy Reefing or Slab Reefing was originally developed as a replacement for the complicated and
troublesome Roller Reefing systems common during the 1950's and 1960's, which utilized a geared
gooseneck system to roll the main up around the Boom.
Jiffy Reefing has become dominant due to its simplicity, safety and speed. There are several variations in the layout of equipment on the Mast and Boom. Fixed Cheekblocks were commonly used but have largely been replaced with these sliding units on more easily mounted T-Track. The adjustability of the Track mounted units allows for use with different mainsails that may have Reef points in different locations. See also, Track. |

Screw Pin for Sch 1" Cars: Sch 171SP:
Replacement Thumb Screw Pin for Sch 73-37X and other Schaefer Cars and Slides for 1" T-Track. SS Screw Pin has 7/8" knurled head with a 7/16-20 thread and a 1/4" tip. Screw is 1/2" long beneath the Head.
