| Pedestal Goosenecks for Jib & Staysail Booms | |
| Jib Booms and Staysail Booms, (Jib or Staysail Clubs) are
commonly found on Cruising and short-handed yachts. The jib (or staysail) is sheeted to the boom end
while the boom is sheeted between two blocks, to a central point, or to an adjustable Traveller System.
This allows the Jib to be 'self-tacking' - it will go over to a predetermined position when the boat
goes over, no jib sheet winches involved.
Jib Booms (Staysail Booms, Jib Clubs) are commonly mounted by 1 of 3 methods: 1. Attached to a special Jib Gooseneck Turnbuckle, as manufactured by Merriman or Schaefer. 2. Attached to a special Jib Gooseneck Slide mounted on the Stay, allowing for height adjustment. 3. Attached to a Gooseneck Pedestal mounted on the Deck. This method has the advantage of allowing 'automatic' foot tension adjustment - as the pivot point of the boom is aft of the tack, foot tension increases as the boom is sheeted in.Listed below are a variety of Standard Gooseneck Pedestals, others can be produced on a Custom basis. Stainless Steel Jib Boom Pedestal is 3 1/2" high with a 1/4" Vertical Pin for a 3/4" high Toggle.
Base is 3 1/2" square and attaches to Deck with (4) 1/4" RH screws on 2 5/8" centers.
Used with any of the 3/4"
Gooseneck Toggles for a 1/4" Pin, which puts horizontal Boom Pin at 3" from the Deck.

Base is 4" square and attaches to Deck with (4) 1/4" RH screws on 3" centers. Shown with

(order separately), which puts horizontal Boom Pin at 5" from the Deck.
Used on some Cape Dory's.

Cast Base with integral Toggle. Base attaches to Deck with (4) #10 (3/16") FH screws on 3 3/16"
centers, unit features SS Eye-bolt for attachment of sheet block. Toggle (with 3/8" Pin) is

Aluminum Jib Boom Pedestal for larger yachts is 12" high to the Horizontal Toggle Pin. Vertical
support tube (4 1/2" OD) has 6" OD Cast Base and cast Top with integral Toggle. Base attaches to
Deck with (6) 1/4" FH screws, unit features SS U-bolt for attachment of sheet block.
Toggle (with 7/16" Pin) is designed for Boom Goosenecks up to 1" wide. Vertical support tube can

Original Cape Dory Cast Bronze Jib Boom Pedestal has been used with a variety of SS Swivel fittings.
Cast Pedestal only is available with 1/2" hole in top, or specify the Boom attachment details for an
appropriate SS Swivel and Pin. Base is (maximum) 4" long x 4 1/8" wide and attaches to Deck with
(5) 1/4" FH screws. Used with various Pins & Swivels on a variety of Cape Dory's.
