FB-220 Boom Section
FB-220 Boom Section is stocked in a variety of lengths fully anodized. Sections can be ordered bare (unmachined), or cut to shorter lengths with or without milling for other components. Painted finishes and other lengths are available on special order. If you require a complete Boom Assembly, select from components below and contact us with specifications. If you require components not listed below please contact us with details. All FB-220 Boom Ends have provisions for 4 internal lines.
Note that Booms used with Furling Masts sometimes use upgraded Outhaul Systems with special Track and Ball-bearing Outhaul Cars, See: Booms for Furling Masts.
 
FB-220 Boom Section - Clear anodized: FB220CAx__:
FB-220 Boom Section is stocked in a variety of lengths up to 15' 9" fully anodized. It can also be cut to shorter lengths. To order, specify length.

 


FB-220 Boom - Mast Attachment Components
FB-220 Booms are connected to a variety of Mast Sections using only a different Toggle to allow for attachment to two sizes of Gooseneck Brackets, detailed below.

 

NG1 Gooseneck Bracket for 12mm Pin: NG1-11:

Cast aluminum Gooseneck Bracket is used on a variety of of NG and FM Mast Sections. It is compatible with the Gooseneck Toggle, FB2-412, below, used with FB-220 and FB-550 Goosenecks, and with other Gooseneck Assemblies. Bracket is 3 7/8" (98mm) high x 2 3/4" (70mm) wide, and is fastened with four (4) 1/4" (6mm) rivets. Bracket has 12mm (7/16") holes for use with any of the NB1-1 Vertical Gooseneck Toggle Pins or Bolts, below. Note: There are other variations of this Gooseneck Bracket, differing only in width. All use the same Pins and Toggles.

 

NG1-11

NG1 Wide Gooseneck Bracket for 12mm Pin: NG1-11F:
Cast aluminum Gooseneck Bracket is used on I-265E, I-365E, and F-560E Furling Masts, and a variety of Isomat Masts with FB-550 and smaller Booms. It is compatible with all FB and NB Gooseneck Toggles that use a 12mm Pin. Bracket is 3 7/8" (98mm) high x 3 9/16" (90mm) wide, and is fastened with four (4) 1/4" (6mm) rivets. Bracket has 12mm (7/16") holes for use with any of the NB1-1 Vertical Gooseneck Toggle Pins. *Note that Bracket is commonly drilled for use with six (6) rivets, locating indents are provided.

 

 
NG1 Narrow Gooseneck Bracket for 12mm Pin: NG1-11N:

Cast aluminum Gooseneck/Vang Bracket is used on a variety of smaller FM Mast Sections. It is compatible with all FB and NB Goosenecks that use a 12mm Pin. Bracket is 3 7/8" (98mm) high x 1 15/16" (49mm) wide, and is fastened with four (4) 1/4" (6mm) rivets. Bracket has 12mm (7/16") holes for use with any of the NB1-1 Vertical Gooseneck Toggle Pins, below. Commonly used with FM-35 thru FM-101 Mast Sections.

 

NB1 Vertical Gooseneck Pin: NB1-1:

Clevis pin is 12mm (7/16") dia. x 85mm (3 3/8") long. Used to attach the Gooseneck Toggle to NG1-11 Gooseneck brackets.

NB1 Tack Shackle: NB1-2:

SS Tack Shackle fits through hole in top of vertical gooseneck clevis pins. Shackle has 5mm (3/16") pin.

NB1 Gooseneck Pin Ass'y w/ Reef Hooks: NB1-1RA:

Stainless Steel Reef Hook/Tack Assembly incorporates 12mm Vertical Gooseneck Bolt with Tack Shackle and dual Reef Hooks. Reef Hooks are formed from 8mm rod, Assembly is (maximum) 3 5/8" wide x 6" high, and includes 5mm SS Tack Shackle. Bolt is 12mm (1/2") diameter x 92mm (3 5/8") long (under head), assembly includes Tack Shackle, washer and 12mm SS Locknut. For use with any of the NG1-11 Gooseneck Brackets and a variety of Gooseneck Toggles for a 12mm Pin.

 


NB1 AutoReef Lead Plate for 12mm Pin: NB1-1LAR:

AutoReef Fairlead mounts on 12mm gooseneck Pin providing a stop for reef lines going from the sail to the deck. Often used with AutoReef (single line) reefing system. Aluminum plate has (2) 20mm (11/16") holes for Reef lines and 12mm Center hole to fit on Special long 12mm gooseneck Pin. Unit is 4 1/4" (107mm) OD x 1 7/16" (36mm) wide x 10mm thick. As used on Catalina 320 and others.

NG2 Gooseneck Bracket for 14mm Pin: NG2-12:

Cast aluminum Gooseneck Mast Bracket for use with FB220-1 Gooseneck Assemblies fits a variety of NG and FM Mast Sections. Bracket is 4 3/4" (120mm) high x 3 1/2" (90mm) wide, and is fastened with eight (8) 1/4" (6mm) rivets. Bracket has 14mm (9/16") hole on bottom side, and 22mm (7/8") hole at top. Use with any of the FB2-1 Vertical Gooseneck Pins and FB2-412 Gooseneck Toggle, below. SS Bracket Bushing, NG2-13, is required for use with this Gooseneck Bracket.

SS Bushing for use with NG2-12 Gooseneck Mast Bracket and FB2-1 Vertical Gooseneck Pins. SS Bushing is 22mm OD x 14mm ID x 15mm long.

Extruded aluminum Gooseneck Mast Bracket for use with FB220-1 Gooseneck Assemblies fits a variety of FM Mast Sections. Bracket is 4 3/8" (112mm) high x 3 1/2" (90mm) wide, and is fastened with eight (8) 3/16" or 1/4" (5 or 6mm) rivets and (2) 1/4" (6mm) FH screws. Bracket has a 14mm (9/16") hole for use with any of the FB2-1 Vertical Gooseneck Pins and FB2-412 Gooseneck Toggle, below.
Note: There are other variations of this Gooseneck Bracket, differing only in the Mast Sections that they fit. All use the same Pins and Toggles.

14mm Vertical Gooseneck Toggle Pin Assembly is used to attach the FB2-412 or FB2-414 Gooseneck Toggles to NG2-12 and FM2-11 Mast Brackets. SS Tack Shackle fits through hole in top of FB2-1 Vertical Gooseneck Toggle Pins. Shackle has 8mm (5/16") pin, throat width is 22mm (7/8").

 

Screw Pin for NB2-2 Tack Shackle: NB2-2SP:

Replacement Screw Pin only for NB2-2 Tack Shackle. Screw Pin has 8mm thread.

 

FB2 Gooseneck Pin w/ Tack Pin & Loops: FB2-1ARL:

14mm Vertical Gooseneck Toggle Pin Assembly is used to attach the FB2-412 or FB2-414 Gooseneck Toggles to NG2-12 and FM2-11 Mast Brackets. SS Gooseneck Pin Assembly includes welded side loops, 8mm (5/16") Tack Pin, washer and 14mm SS Locknut. Unit is 14mm (9/16") diameter x 135mm (5 3/8") long (under head).

 


FB-220 Boom Components
The FB-220 Boom is commonly used with a variety of FB2, and NB2 components, detailed below. The FB220-1 Gooseneck can be used with 2 different Gooseneck Toggles, detailed below, to allow for connection to two different sizes of Gooseneck Brackets, See: Mast Attachment Components, above.
 
FB2 Gooseneck Toggle for 12mm Vertical Pin: FB2-411:

Extruded Aluminum Gooseneck Toggle is used on FB-220 and other Booms, to attach to NG1-11 Gooseneck Brackets, using any of the NB1-1 Vertical Gooseneck Pins, above. Toggle is 1 15/16" (50mm) high x 1 5/8" wide x 2 7/8" long, with holes for 12mm vertical and horizontal pins on 1 7/16" centers. Anodized Toggle features central hole for cotter pin to secure Horizontal Pin FB220-1P.

 

FB2 Gooseneck Toggle for 14mm Vertical Pin: FB2-412:

FB2 GN Toggle for 14mm Vertical Pin, Black: FB2-412B:

Cast Aluminum Gooseneck Toggle is used on FB-220 and other Booms to attach to NG2-12 and FM2-11 Gooseneck Brackets, using any of the FB2-1 Vertical Gooseneck Pins, above. Toggle is 2 3/4" (69mm) high x 1 1/2" (37mm) wide x 3 3/8" (86mm) long, with holes for 14mm vertical and 12mm horizontal pins, on 2" (50mm) centers. Anodized Toggle features central hole for cotter pin to secure Horizontal Pin FB220-1P. Also available in Black, as used on C&C, Tartan and others.

 


FB-220 Gooseneck w/ Sheaves & Cams: FB220-1AC:

Cast aluminum Gooseneck Assembly incorporates provisions for internal outhaul and 3 internal reef lines. Internal lines run over delrin sheaves, and down past lever action cams. Cams can be removed to allow lines to go straight down to the deck, outboard sheaves can be used to run lines upward for use in Auto-Reef applications. Includes (4) sheaves, NG1-3, and (4) cams, NBA-14. Order Horizontal Gooseneck Pin FB220-1P, and appropriate FB Toggle, separately.

 

FB-220 Gooseneck Ass'y w/ Sheaves only: FB220-1A:

As FB220-1AC, above, but with sheaves only for applications where lines are cleated on deck. Does not include Cams which can always be added later.

 

 
FB-220 Gooseneck Casting: FB220-1:

Clear anodized Replacement Casting only, for any of the FB-220 Gooseneck Assemblies listed above. Casting extends (maximum) 4 3/4" (120mm) forward of the boom tube. Distance from horizontal Pin hole to boom tube is 4 1/16" (103mm).

 

FB-220 Horizontal Gooseneck Pin: FB220-1P:

Horizontal Gooseneck Pin used with the FB220-1 Gooseneck to attach FB2-4 Gooseneck Toggles. SS Pin is 12mm x 68mm long with central hole for cotter pin (included).

 

FB2 Boom Sheave: NG1-3:

Acetyl Sheave is 50mm (2") OD x 14mm (9/16") wide x 10mm (3/8") ID.

 

FB2 Boom Sheave - Aluminum: NG1-3A:

Anodized Aluminum Sheave is 50mm (2") OD x 14mm (9/16") wide x 10mm (3/8") ID, and is much sturdier than the plastic version.

 

Sheave Axle Kit for FB-220 Gooseneck: FB220-12K:

SS tubular Sheave Axle pin is 10mm (3/8") diameter x 90mm (3 17/32") long, and fits in upper hole in FB220-1 Gooseneck Casting. Tubular Axle Pin is secured with (2) 3/16" large head Aluminum rivets, FB2-1R, included.

 

Cam Axle Kit for FB-220 Gooseneck: FB220-13K:

SS tubular Cam Axle pin is 10mm (3/8") diameter x 82mm (3 1/4") long, and fits in lower hole in FB220-1 Gooseneck Casting. Tubular Axle Pin is secured with (2) 3/16" large head Aluminum rivets, FB2-1R, included.

 

 
Gooseneck Cam: NBA-14:

Gooseneck Cam lever used in all FB220 and FB550 goosenecks. Anodized extruded aluminum cam measures (maximum) 2 3/4" long x 9/16" wide (70 x 14mm), and rides on 10mm (3/8") cam axle.

AutoReef Sheave for FB2 Gooseneck: SM25R13-10:

Delrin Sheave is 25mm (1") OD x 12mm (7/16") wide x 10mm (3/8") ID. Rollers replace the two outboard Cams in the FB220 Gooseneck for AutoReef applications. NB2-19R

 

 

FB-220 'Low Friction' Boom End Casting only: FB220-1LF:
Black anodized aluminum casting is used on both Ends of 'Low Friction' Boom Assemblies. New-style light-weight LF Boom End incorporates smooth curved surfaces for up to four (4) lines, eliminating sheaves for lines going upwards. Used with Internal 14mm Pin (14x90) for attachment of Gooseneck Toggle, and with 6mm line retention Pin in Gooseneck and Outhaul assemblies. Casting extends (maximum) 1 1/2" (38mm) beyond the boom tube and is marked LF220 & 37001002201. As used on Beneteau.

 


Spar Cleat – 6 3/8": NGC-6:

Cast Aluminum Cleat is 160mm (6 3/8") long. Other Cleats have also been used on this boom section, and are listed separately. Other Isomat Cleats.

Exit Plate – Large Snap-in: NG2-7:

Large Black plastic Snap-in Exit Plate eliminates line chafe, and accommodates a maximum of 5/8" line. Exit Plate measures 4 1/2" x 1 5/16" (115mm x 34mm), and installs in cut-out 1" x 4 1/4" (26mm x 112mm). Other Exit Plates have also been used on this boom section, and are listed separately. Cast aluminum Shuttle Block incorporates 2 Delrin Roller sheaves. Used in AutoReef single line reefing systems.

 


FB-220 Boom Bails
The FB-220 Boom is designed for use with NB2 Boom and Vang Bails, detailed below. In production history on smaller boats, the lighter FB1 components have sometimes been used. For these items, See: See: FB-125 Boom Bails.
 
NB2 Boom Bail Ass'y: NB2-15A:

SS Articulating Boom Bail fits in integral slot in underside of NB2, FB2 and other boom sections. Bail is made from 10mm rod. Formed plate is 3.2mm thick and measures 4 3/4" (120mm) long x 1 3/16" (30mm) wide. Fastens with (2) 1/4" (6mm) rivets.

NB2 Boom Bail: NB2-15R:

SS formed rod bail only, as used in NB2 Boom Bail Assembly NB2-15A, above. Bail is made from 10mm (3/8") rod, and is 2 3/4" (70mm) long x (maximum) 1 15/16" (50mm) high.

NB2 Boom Bail Ass'y - Heavy-duty: NB2-15AW:

As NB2-15A (above), but Bail is reinforced with a welded crossbar. This heavy-duty option prevents the bail from compressing in extreme circumstances and is used primarily on larger boats.

SS formed rod Bail only, reinforced with a welded crossbar, as used in NB2 Heavy-duty Boom Bail Assembly NB2-15AW, above. Bail is made from 10mm (3/8") rod, and is 2 3/4" (70mm) long x (maximum) 1 15/16" (50mm) high.

NB2 Boom Vang Lug for 1/2" Pin: NB2-16-12:

SS Boom Vang Attachment Lug fits in integral slot in underside of NB2 and FB2 Boom sections and has 1/2" (12.6mm) hole for attachment of Vangs from a variety of manufacturers. Slide plate (3mm) is 6 1/2" long, and is welded to 5mm (3/16") thick Triangle, hole center is 32mm (1 1/4") from Boom bottom. Unit slides into track and fastens with (4) 1/4" (6mm) rivets. Used with NG1 Isovang, and a variety of others.

 

 

 


NB2 Boom Vang Lug for 14mm Pin - Pneuvang: NB2-16-14C:
Heavy-duty Cast SS Boom Vang Attachment Lug fits in integral slot in underside of NB2 and FB2 Boom sections and has 14mm (9/16") hole for attachment of Sparcraft Pneuvang, Size 4 and smaller. Investment Cast SS Vang Attachment Lug is 255mm (10") long x 29mm (maximum) wide, hole center is 38mm (1 1/2") from Boom bottom, Lug is 6.4mm wide at Pin hole. Unit slides into track and fastens with (6) 1/4" (6mm) rivets.

 

 

 

NB2 Boom Vang Lug for 14mm - Pneuvang #5: NB2-16-145C:
Heavy-duty Cast SS Boom Vang Attachment Lug fits in integral slot in underside of NB2 and FB2 & FB3 Boom sections and has 14mm (9/16") hole with wide Lug for attachment of Sparcraft Pneuvang, Size 5. Investment Cast SS Vang Attachment Lug is 255mm (10") long x 29mm (maximum) wide, hole center is 38mm (1 1/2") from Boom bottom, Lug is 8mm wide at Pin hole. Unit slides into track and fastens with (6) 1/4" (6mm) rivets.

 

 

 


NB2 Boom Vang Lug for 5/8" (16mm) Pin: NB2-16-16:

SS Boom Vang Attachment Lug fits in integral slot in underside of NB2 and FB2 & FB3 Boom sections and has 5/8" (16mm) hole for attachment of Vangs from a variety of manufacturers. Slide plate (3mm) is 6 1/2" long, and is welded to 5mm (3/16") thick Triangle, hole center is 32mm (1 1/4") from Boom bottom. Unit slides into track and fastens with (4) 1/4" (6mm) rivets.

 

 

 

FB3 Boom Vang Lug for 5/8" (16mm) Pin: FB3-16-16:

Heavy-duty SS Boom Vang Attachment Lug has a 5/8" (16mm) hole in a 5mm (3/16") thick triangle welded through 5mm slide plate specially milled to fit integral slot in underside of NB2 and FB2 & FB3 Boom sections. Unit is 10" (255mm) long x 1 3/16" (30mm) wide, hole center is 32mm (1 1/4") from Boom bottom. Lug slides into track and fastens with (6) 1/4" (6mm) rivets. As used with Sparcraft Pneuvang and others.

 

 

 

 


NB2 Boom Vang Lug for 22mm (7/8") Pin: FB3-16C-22:

Heavy-duty Cast SS Boom Vang Attachment Lug fits in integral slot in underside of NB2 and FB2 & FB3 Boom sections and has 22mm (7/8") hole for attachment of NG2 Isovang. Investment Cast SS Vang Attachment Lug is 255mm (10") long x 29mm (maximum) wide, hole center is 65mm (2 1/2") from Boom bottom. Unit slides into track and fastens with (6) 1/4" (6mm) rivets. Longer, stronger Cast unit replaces earlier welded version, NB2-16-22.

 

 

 


Outhaul Cars
Sparcraft Booms sometimes use an Outhaul Car that fits in its' integral Track, listed below.
Note that Booms used with Furling Masts sometimes use upgraded Outhaul Systems with special Track and Ball-bearing Outhaul Cars, See: Sparcraft Booms for Furling Masts.
 
NB2 Outhaul Car: NB2-17A:
SS Outhaul Car Assembly is 85mm (3 3/8") long. Car rides on 4 delrin wheels, NB2-18W, below. Car is attached to the mainsail using the pin of an 8mm (5/16") shackle, NB2-2, attached to the outhaul pennant. This item is no longer available and is shown here for identification only.

 

NB2 Outhaul Car: NB2-18A:

SS Outhaul Car Assembly is 92mm (3 5/8") long. Car rides on 4 delrin wheels and features a 12mm (7/16") clew attachment pin and a 10mm (3/8") pin for attachment of the outhaul pennant.

Delrin Wheel for FB-220 Outhaul Car is 19mm (3/4") OD x 10mm (3/8") wide x 10mm (3/8") ID.

Heavy-duty Outhaul Car Assembly is 230mm (9") long. Car consists of (2) FB2-18AS Short Outhaul Cars, above, joined with a SS coupler, and features a 16mm (5/8") Pin for attachment of the clew and an 14mm (9/16") Pin for attachment of the outhaul pennant.

 

 
  FB2 Short Outhaul Car Coupler: FB2-18DC:

Heavy-duty SS Coupler Assembly is used to connect two FB2-18AS Outhaul Cars, above, for high load applications. SS Coupler Assembly attaches to Car shackles with 12mm (7/16") Pins, and features a 16mm (5/8") Pin for attachment of the clew and a 14mm (9/16") Pin for attachment of the outhaul pennant. Heavy-duty welded SS Channel is made from 5mm stock and is 230mm (9") long x 36mm (1 7/16") wide.

 

 

 

FB2 Outhaul Car, Long: FB2-18AL:
Aluminum Outhaul Car Assembly is 150mm (6") long. Car rides on 4 Torlon rods to minimize friction, and features a 8mm (5/16") shackle for attachment of the clew and outhaul pennant. This item is no longer available and is shown here for identification only.

FB-220 Outhaul Ass'y Complete: FB220-2A:

Cast aluminum Outhaul Assembly incorporates provisions for internal outhaul and 3 internal reef lines. Sheaves and sheave axle slide in from the aft side simultaneously, and are held in place by the outhaul and/or reef lines. Eye on upper side allows for topping lift attachment. Unit projects (maximum) 3 3/8" (85mm) from tube end.

FB2 Boom Sheave: NG1-3:

Acetyl Sheave is 50mm (2") OD x 14mm (9/16") wide x 10mm (3/8") ID.

 

FB2 Boom Sheave - Aluminum: NG1-3A:

Anodized Aluminum Sheave is 50mm (2") OD x 14mm (9/16") wide x 10mm (3/8") ID, and is much sturdier than the plastic version.

 

Sheave Axle for FB-220 Outhaul: FB2-13L:

SS 'Drop-in' Sheave Axle pin is 10mm (3/8") diameter x 83mm (3 1/4") long.

FB-220 Outhaul End Plug: FB220-2EP:

Black Plastic End Plug covers opening in back end of FB220-2 Outhaul Casting. New 'Bird Nest Buster' snaps into place, blocking the hole, but is easily removable for access to lines. If you've ever had a nesting problem, here's the solution.
