Halyard Fairleads / Eyes / Spectacles |
|
|
Halyard Fairleads / Halyard Eyes Halyard Fairleads, also known as Halyard Eyes, Fairlead Eyes, or Spectacles, are attached to the Mast under the Jib or Spinnaker Halyard entrance, providing a smooth, clean lead for Halyards. They are also used in other applications, as for (See also) Jib Halyard Furling Restrainers, and anywhere a line needs a smooth fairlead. They are commonly used beneath an Exit Block, an Exit Plate, or to lead a line along a Boom. Spectacles that are incorporated into, or designed to be attached to a specific Jib Box are listed separately, See Jib Boxes. Fairlead Blocks are sometimes used on the Mast or Boom, to redirect Halyards or Reef lines, See Cheek Blocks.
